Excluded line items

Why grooming, food, and some preventives don't count — and how to mark exceptions.

Most pet-insurance plans exclude a handful of categories — grooming, food and supplements, boarding, and (for accident-only plans) routine preventives. Heel tags these automatically and excludes them from the reimbursement math.

Marking an exception

If your plan specifically covers something Heel excluded by default (e.g. a prescription diet), tap the line and toggle Eligible for this policy. The change applies to that invoice only — you can also save it as a rule from your Policy settings.
